Pipeline Quarterly Preview: Comfort, Joy and Achievement at Hattie Larlham
NOTE: The following piece on the Hattie Larlham ribbon-cutting ceremony is a shorter version of the featured article in the current issue of Pipeline Quarterly, recently published.

Stepping into the entryway at the new Hattie Larlham Center for Excellence in Northeast Ohio on ribbon-cutting day in August 2008, visitors were greeted by walls of colorful and original artwork, sunshine streaming through wide windows, and an immediate feeling that this is a hopeful place.
ODMRDD Director John Martin was just one of many in attendance at the ribbon-cutting ceremony at the new Hattie Larlham Center for Excellence in August. Hattie Larlham is a non-profit organization, headquarted in Mantau, Ohio (Portage County) that provides care to children and adults with mental retardation and developmental disabilities.
Children enjoy their time together at the new
Hattie Larlham Center for Excellence.
Currently 126 young people with severe developmental disabilities and chronic conditions reside there. In all, Hattie's "family" includes about 1400 individuals served throughout the State.
While the ribbon-cutting ceremony for the Center was a key event in the history of this nearly 50-year-old entity known formerly as the Hattie Larlham Foundation, and now as, simply, Hattie Larlham, it marks only one event in the continuum of caring that is a Hattie hallmark.
