Welcome to the  ODMRDD Futures Website

John Martin ODMRDD Director

It is a pleasure to welcome you to the MRDD Futures Website. From this page you can navigate to learn the history of the MRDD Futures Committee and catch up on news from the Futures Implementation Process. Within the links on this page, there are numerous resources, including the minutes from each MRDD Futures Committee meeting, as well as the full version of the final Futures Report and subcommittee recommendations. There are lots of links on this page to take you where you want to go!

The MRDD Futures Committee was created by Governor Ted Strickland, members of the Ohio General Assembly and the MRDD community. Among other tasks, it was charged to review the effectiveness, efficiency, and sustainability of current uses of funding for the state's mental retardation and developmental disabilities system.

On March 28, 2008 a final report was delivered to Governor Strickland and the General Assembly. This report set forth positive steps to improve services, processes, and supports for individuals and families. I encourage you to take some time to look over the exciting things happening with the Futures Implementation Process and invite you to come back often, as we will continue to update this page with the latest information regarding the Futures Implementation Process.

Sincerely,

John L. Martin, Director

 Phase One Deliverables Now Available

The ODMRDD Futures Implementation Process took a step forward on August 6, releasing the first group of ‘deliverables’ (products) related to the 31 recommendations of the MRDD Futures Committee. Below we share the work we have completed to-date in Phase One, which includes 17 deliverables.

These deliverables are being presented as drafts for the field to review and provide feedback. Please keep in mind that these are initial drafts subject to revision - they are intended for review and comment and should not be viewed as final products. We hope you will find the process to be an efficient way of moving forward.  We continue to manage all of the Futures efforts as transparently and inclusively as possible, and take fresh approaches to achieve positive outcomes. This includes sharing drafts and works-in-progress. We invite the entire MRDD community to review this work. Please submit any feedback to:
