Purpose of the Family Advisory Council

The primary purpose of the Family Advisory Council is to provide information to policy-makers who impact direct services. It is important that policy-makers are informed of issues/concerns that are statewide. The Family Advisory Council provides an opportunity to exchange information about programs, services, and options available to people who have family members with developmental disabilities.

The primary goal for the Council is to use the resulting family network to reach as many families in Ohio, and provide them with information and education regarding our system. It is hoped that members of the Council also share what resources have been developed in their County that could benefit others. Collaboration between the DODD and members of the Family Advisory Council could result in internal changes that will continue to improve and enhance services, statewide.

The contact person for the Family Advisory Council is Peggy Martin. She may be reached via email at peggy.martin@dodd.ohio.gov; by phone at (614) 466-8706, or by writing to her at DODD, 30 East Broad Street, 12th Floor, Columbus, OH 43215-3434.
